You can help yourself get maximum benefit from your Chiropractic Care if you follow this

After-Care Advice:

  • On the day of care provided:

*** Have a glass of water it helps to be well hydrated, flush out toxins and clear your system.

*** Restto allow the treatment to have its full effect, it would not be advisable to do any activities interfering with your recovery; e.g. vigorous exercises, contact sports or heavy lifting, hot-bath are not recommended.

*** Get plenty of sleepas sleep can be essential to recovery.

  •  Long term:

*** Be aware of your posture and get moving / exercisetry to be as well balanced as possible during sitting, standing, driving etc.

*** Drink plenty of water as this helps to clear your system.

*** Keep to a simple diet eat plenty of fruit, vegetables, natural wholefood and organic whenever possible; avoid smoking and excessive alcohol.

*** Use heat (e.g. hot water-bottle) as it helps keep the muscles relaxed. Please be cautious (!) and avoid heat if your joints or muscles are inflamed (cooling gels or packs may be indicated) – consult your practitioner if you are unsure.

  • How you may feel:

There are a whole range of sensations that you can experience. The main thing to remember is that change is a sign of your body adapting to the adjustments it has received and is usually a good thing.

*** Feeling better? Relief from the pain as your body becomes aligned can make you feel straighter, more balanced and relaxed, your joints should have more freedom of movement than before, and you may sleep well following the relaxation of deep tensions in your body.

*** Feeling worse before feeling better? After the adjustment the shape and size of your painful area may change, move or new pains, stiffness, soreness and muscle tension may emerge – this is usually all part of the process and there is nothing to be alarmed about.

*** Unexpected headaches, tiredness, emotional changes, dizziness? – these are less common but may occur due to release of waste products, release of tension in the muscles, increased blood flow to the brain and different postures – if these changes bother you for more than 48 hours, please contact your practitioner for advice.

Good health is not just the absence of pain or disease, but a positive sense of physical, emotional and mental well-being. The more balanced the body is, the better it will cope with the stresses of daily living, as well as with unexpected trauma.

Given a chance, the body has natural self-healing abilities.
